Expo 2023 Doha

Idromeccanica Lucchini has recently won an important international tender awarded by ICE. Idromeccanica Lucchini has been a partner of ICE for many years: an agency that promotes the internationalization of companies in line with the strategies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to foster the growth of Made in Italy. The company has already carried out through ICE several missions in non-European markets focusing mainly on the development of the African continent.

Something new

Idromeccanica Lucchini will provide the furniture and decoration of the Italian pavilion at the prestigious Expo 2023 Doha. This contract has been won thanks to a development path that has led Idromeccanica Lucchini to be considered as one of the most important and innovative companies in the Italian agribusiness sector. The chosen theme for Expo 2023 in Doha is “Green Desert” and the concept of minimizing the waste of resources to create food even in areas of the world with extreme climates. Idromeccanica Lucchini is therefore proud of this challenge, because it allows the company to create something new with respect to the traditional core business. The artistic aspects of the project should also raise international awareness of the future of the hydroponics and vertical farm sectors.

A project in collaboration with the Italian government

Idromeccanica Lucchini has worked together with the Italian government on both concept, design, and technology to create a vertical and hydroponic green wall with floating system. The wall will decorate the Italian pavilion in Doha as a real vertical greenhouse. Idromeccanica Lucchini, together with its Italian workforce, will handle the design, logistics and installation. For the agronomic part, the operation will be carried out in partnership with local resources. The Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha will take place from October 2, 2023 to the end of March 2024.

Investments and media attention

The entire work will be designed and built from scratch. This will allow Idromeccanica Lucchini to make investments in new areas of technology. Everything that will be built, with the exception of containers and hardware, will be produced from scratch with 15 3D printers. The project will give the company considerable media attention and it will also be extremely useful for the development of new carpentry technologies and greenhouse solutions. Artificial intelligence and robotics will also be used to take a leap forward for the vertical farming system on which Idromeccanica Lucchini has been focused since the Expo 2015 Milan.
