Ecovadis Certification: Lucchini Confirms Silver Medal!

Summary

Idromeccanica Lucchini, always attentive to present and future challenges, is once again at the forefront of responsible and sustainable innovation in its sector, thanks to the prestigious Ecovadis certification. This recognition represents a symbol of sustainability and responsibility for the company, not only from an environmental perspective but also from a social and regulatory standpoint.

What is Ecovadis and why is it so Important?

Ecovadis is one of the most authoritative and globally recognized certifications, a mark that attests to companies’ compliance with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria. The Ecovadis certification process is based on a thorough assessment involving three independent verifications, each conducted by different experts. Each evaluation focuses on specific areas, such as environmental impact, human rights management, and labor practices, with the aim of providing a comprehensive and transparent view of company performance. The final Ecovadis score is not universal but takes into account the specificities of the sector in which the company operates, allowing Idromeccanica Lucchini (which operates in a particularly complex field) to compare itself with the best international entities.

With this type of certification, companies not only demonstrate alignment with global sustainability standards but also gain a competitive advantage, which is increasingly fundamental for attracting investments and retaining customers.

Training and Internal Commitment: a Journey that Starts from the Heart of the Company

The path towards obtaining and continuously improving the Ecovadis certification is the result of a 360-degree investment in internal training. Idromeccanica Lucchini has undertaken an educational journey that starts from the basics, without prejudice, to raise awareness and train every member of its community on crucial topics such as sustainability, social responsibility, and regulatory compliance. This process, curated in collaboration with PQA, a leading company in drafting sustainability certifications, has involved the entire team, from management to operators, creating a conscious and proactive work environment.

The goal is not just to obtain a certification, but to transform this culture into an authentic mindset that can guide the company in the coming years, in complete autonomy, towards a continuous evolution of sustainable practices.

Excellence Reconfirmed: the Silver Medal and the Challenge for the Future

Idromeccanica Lucchini wins the Ecovadis silver medal for the third consecutive year! A more than remarkable result, which places our company among the top 15% of entities evaluated by EcoVadis in the last 12 months (85+ percentile).

But our challenge doesn’t end here. We want to commit to maintaining and improving this score, with a particular focus on adopting increasingly innovative solutions. 2026 represents a crucial moment, with the presentation of the sustainability report, which will become a fundamental document to attest to the company’s ethical solidity in front of its professional ecosystem.

The choice to proceed with a sustainability report, despite not being required by law, demonstrates Lucchini’s desire to be transparent and responsible. An approach that anticipates market trends – as demonstrated by numerous reports, drafted by the most prestigious credit institutions – where sustainable companies are increasingly sought after by investors and customers.

Sustainability as a Strategic Lever: Practical Example

A concrete example of how Idromeccanica Lucchini is implementing its sustainability policies concerns transport management. Ecovadis also assesses the environmental impact of logistics activities; for this reason, we have created a specific questionnaire to monitor every aspect of transport: engines, kilometers traveled, and related impacts. Through an agreement with a travel agency in Mantua, Lucchini has analyzed all global travel planned for 2025, in order to offset CO2 emissions through the purchase of “green bonds” and planting trees in strategic areas of the world, such as Nepal.

This compensation approach is a further step towards adopting sustainable solutions, which places Lucchini at the forefront of its sector, distinguishing itself from competitors and placing it in a niche of virtuous companies globally.

Circular Economy

Despite the difficulty of achieving a perfect balance between emissions and ecological footprint, Idromeccanica Lucchini is working tirelessly to embrace a balance between energy consumed and generated. The company’s commitment to research and development (R&D) projects and the promotion of the circular economy are the beating heart of a vision of growth that looks to the future responsibly. Investing in recycling and continuous improvement of production technologies are the cornerstones on which Lucchini bases its operations, to ensure not only the well-being of the environment but also long-term economic prosperity.

For Idromeccanica Lucchini, it’s not just about meeting required standards, but being an active enzyme for profound cultural change, involving every aspect of the organization, with a concrete commitment to improving our performance and achieving sustainability goals.

The road is still long, but we know that every step forward is a small step towards a better future – not just for the company, but for the entire global infrastructure.
