Greenhouse cooling

Climate control for the future

We manage temperature, humidity, air exchange, and light with coordinated and cutting-edge tools.

Climate control according to Lucchini

Our concept of greenhouse climate control is based on balance.
We integrate natural and mechanical ventilation, adiabatic cooling with pad&fan or
fog, thermal and shading screens, horizontal ventilation, and targeted dehumidification. Precision sensors and software orchestrate the systems with precise logic,
activating only when needed. The CAPEX in equipment and automation reduces OPEX – avoiding waste, stabilizing processes, and simplifying the team’s work.

Lucchini greenhouse climate control: how it works

Method

It starts with a climate audit that analyzes the crop, cycle, structure, and local conditions. From here, an integrated air-water-screen project is born, with placements designed to eliminate dead zones and stratifications. Our climate “recipes” are calibrated for phenological phases and seasons, supported by remote control and alarms; all completed by start-up, fine-tuning, and operational training.

Solutions

The integrated solutions combine openings and geometries designed to promote natural draft with fans and extractors that ensure constant air exchange and flow direction. In larger volumes, pad&fan systems create clean air corridors, while fog technology allows for rapid and uniform cooling. To complete the picture, our screens reduce thermal load and organize light, also with dehumidification and nighttime heating.

Analysis

Each solution is a wise compromise: natural ventilation is economical but weather-dependent, while mechanical ventilation offers greater precision at the cost of electricity consumption to manage. Pad&fan systems ensure robustness and linearity, whereas fog is more modulable and refined, although it requires clean water and reliable nozzles. Light screens are versatile, while high-seal ones ensure maximum thermal cut (even in winter). A higher level of automation, finally, brings efficiency but requires an initial investment.

Results

The results we can expect are certainly a more stable climate, with regular plants and reduced waste. In this way, thanks to the support of Idromeccanica Lucchini, interventions become scheduled over time and costs more predictable; while the initial investment (CAPEX) enables precise climate control and reduced OPEX, season after season.
