Ortofloricoltura Matteo: going back to roots

Ortofloricoltura Matteo is a business that embodies a passion for nature, innovation, and tradition. The story of Matteo Parolari, a young agronomist, is closely tied to the area of Tione di Trento, a small village of 3,000 inhabitants, where the bond with the land and the world of floriculture developed from an early age. This journey saw a significant transformation, thanks to the support and collaboration of Idromeccanica Lucchini, which played a key role in the evolution of the business.

Matteo, after earning his diploma in Agricultural Science and cultivating a passion for football, decided to return to his father’s home, a small flower-growing business. The initial challenges were many: few customers, a limited business turnover, but a strong determination to grow the family business. In this context, in 2013, Idromeccanica Lucchini stepped in with a proposal that would prove crucial for the future of Ortofloricoltura Matteo.

The solution came in the form of a series of 'Mini-Atlantic' greenhouses that Matteo could use to gain experience and increase production. A small step for Matteo, but a giant leap for the Parolari family: in a short time, production grew to one hectare in the heart of the village, and turnover began to rise significantly.

Another turning point came with a regional grant from Trentino, which allowed Matteo to transform the store into a real 'mini garden'. Idromeccanica Lucchini, with its ongoing support, provided additional technical solutions: new greenhouses, heating systems, and the famous flow and reflux bench systems, which allowed flowers to be grown directly in display. This innovation was a game-changer for Ortofloricoltura Matteo, enabling the business to double its turnover and expand its services, including supplying flowers for weddings, funerals, and even hotels in the Pinzolo area, where the business further expanded.
Despite the success, Matteo never stopped striving for more. His passion for his work led him to invest in a new, larger greenhouse, where he began producing primroses and poinsettias, further expanding the range of flowers offered. His entrepreneurial spirit remained relentless, and between 2024 and 2025, he decided to make another significant investment: a third section that would house a real production greenhouse, complete with a potting machine, seeding equipment, heating systems, and a conveyor system for transporting benches. The new 'Multi-Atlantic Evoluzione' greenhouse, equipped with thermal protective screens and computerized climate-controlled cultivation, is the beating heart of the business. Moreover, the modern off-ground cultivation systems are tangible proof of how innovation and sustainability can coexist in perfect harmony.
The goal was to verticalize production, reaching the final customer directly and bringing the business to an industrial level. This investment represented the paradigm of economic independence and a self-sufficient future for the company.

The result of this entrepreneurial journey is not only economic success but also a return to the roots: a beautiful family with four children, a passion for nature that has become a social and economic engine for the small village. Matteo Parolari is an example of how a business can thrive not only with the right entrepreneurial spirit but also with a strong ethical vision and sustainability, contributing to revitalizing small Italian communities.

Idromeccanica Lucchini, alongside Matteo and Ortofloricoltura Matteo for more than 10 years, anticipated the client's needs and supported this journey with dedication and passion. Their commitment has made possible a true collaboration that goes beyond the provision of technical solutions, embodying the true sense of doing business ethically and responsibly. A business model that demonstrates how small local businesses can thrive, contributing to the growth of the entire region.

Ortofloricoltura Matteo is not just a business that grows flowers, but a testimony of how a passion for nature, commitment, and innovation can breathe new life into the ecosystem of Italian villages, creating a synergy between tradition and the future. And Lucchini is always at the forefront of this sociocultural renewal.
