Idromeccanica Lucchini, always focused on the challenges of both the present and the future, reaffirms its role as a leader in responsible and sustainable innovation in its sector with the prestigious Ecovadis certification. This recognition stands as a symbol of the company’s commitment to sustainability and responsibility - not only from an environmental perspective but also in terms of social and regulatory standards.
What is Ecovadis and why does it matter?
Ecovadis is one of the most respected and globally recognized ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) certifications. The certification process involves an in-depth evaluation composed of three independent assessments, each carried out by different experts. These assessments focus on key areas such as environmental impact, human rights management, and labor practices. The final score is not universal, but rather sector-specific, allowing Idromeccanica Lucchini - operating in a particularly complex field - to benchmark itself against top international performers.
Obtaining this type of certification not only proves that a company aligns with global sustainability standards but also provides a competitive edge, increasingly essential for attracting investment and building customer loyalty.
Internal Training and Commitment: A Journey That Starts from Within
The path toward earning and continually improving the Ecovadis certification has been supported by a comprehensive internal training program. Idromeccanica Lucchini embarked on an educational journey built from the ground up, raising awareness and educating every member of the organization - from executives to operators - on key topics such as sustainability, social responsibility, and regulatory compliance.
This process, developed in partnership with PQA, a leading sustainability certification firm, fostered a conscious and proactive work environment. The goal is not just to obtain a certification, but to embed this culture as a true corporate mindset, guiding the company into the future through continuous improvements in sustainable practices.
A reconfirmed excellence: Silver Medal and future ambitions
Idromeccanica Lucchini has earned the Ecovadis Silver Medal for the third consecutive year, placing the company among the top 15% of all companies assessed globally over the past 12 months (85th percentile and above).
But this achievement is just the beginning. The company is committed to maintaining and improving its score, with a specific focus on adopting increasingly innovative solutions. The year 2026 will mark a milestone, with the release of the company’s first Sustainability Report - a key document that, while not legally required, will formally demonstrate Lucchini’s ethical integrity to stakeholders.
This voluntary move reflects Lucchini’s deep commitment to transparency and forward-thinking leadership, anticipating market trends increasingly favored by major investors and credit institutions.

Sustainability as a strategic lever: a practical example
One clear example of how Idromeccanica Lucchini is applying its sustainability strategy is in transportation management. As part of the Ecovadis criteria, logistics-related emissions are also assessed. To meet these standards, Lucchini developed a custom monitoring questionnaire covering vehicle types, distances traveled, and related environmental impact.
In partnership with a travel agency based in Mantua, Lucchini analyzed all global travel planned for 2025 with the goal of offsetting CO₂ emissions through green bonds and tree-planting programs in strategic locations such as Nepal.
This carbon offset strategy is yet another step forward in the adoption of sustainable solutions, positioning Lucchini as an industry leader and aligning it with a select group of exemplary companies worldwide.
Circular Economy and continuous innovation
Reaching a perfect balance between emissions and ecological footprint is a challenge, but Idromeccanica Lucchini is relentlessly working toward achieving energy parity - equaling energy consumed with energy generated.
The company’s R&D investments and efforts to foster a circular economy are central to its vision for responsible growth. Recycling, resource efficiency, and continuous improvement of production technologies form the core of Lucchini’s operations, ensuring not only environmental protection but also long-term economic sustainability.
For Lucchini, sustainability isn’t just about meeting standards - it’s about being an active catalyst for cultural change, embedding environmental and ethical values into every level of the organization.
The road ahead is long, but each step forward is a move toward a better future; not just for the company, but for the entire global ecosystem.
