Development of horticultural varieties

Idromeccanica Lucchini, in collaboration with Isi Sementi of Fidenza in the province of Parma, in the heart of the Food Valley, is carrying out an important experimentation project for the creation of horticultural varieties suitable for hydroponics. At the basis of the collaboration between the two groups is the common attention to quality and above all the idea of developing products completely "Made in Italy". A close synergy between two realities of great importance at national level is in fact a guarantee of high performance both in Italy and abroad.

Who is Isi Sementi SpA

Isi Sementi, partner of Idromeccanica Lucchini in this phase of development, is a company that boasts a long experience in the field of research, production and marketing of professional vegetable seeds. The experiments take place throughout the year, with particular incidence during the summer period and concern both species already established and tested over time, and new varieties of seeds. Isi Sementi's goal is to offer agricultural producers and the market products characterized by origin, flavor and sustainability.

Values

Starting from these three fundamental characteristics, the collaboration project with Idromeccanica Lucchini was launched and four experimental greenhouses were created for the research and varietal development of horticultural species. For this particular type of experiment, Lucchini greenhouses by Atlantic Evo series were crucial, equipped with all specific ventilation systems.

The research project

R&D, mainly focused on tomatoes, but also on lettuce, onion and other vegetables, is based on experimentation with hydroponics on coconut substrate. Soilless hydroponics is strongly indicated to protect environmental sustainability and increases the yield of crops in a natural way thanks to the control that technology can exercise, day by day, on plant development.

Through the synergy between Idromeccanica Lucchini and Isi Sementi, genetic specificities and varietal types strictly indicated for hydroponic cultivation will be selected in order to obtain the best vegetables with complete control over the production process.

The quality of the product, the safety, the genuineness and above all the flavor of vegetables are the fundamental criteria on which to select the horticultural varieties in this experimentation phase.
